Case Study 1: Finding and Exploiting Structure in Highly Dynamic Networks – Arnaud Casteigts
Mobile entities like robots, drones, and vehicles can communicate directly with each other, resulting in highly-dynamic networks whose communication links appear and disappear frequently (and unpredictably). While these networks may look chaotic at first glance, it is often the case that they actually satisfy subtle properties over time and space, which a networking algorithm can exploit. In this talk, I will review a number of such properties in relation to typical distributed tasks. The talk is technology-insensitive, it will focus on graph-theoretical properties (formulated using dynamic graphs, a.k.a. temporal, evolving, or time-varying graphs), and present algorithmic ideas at a general level.
Case Study 2: Virtual network embedding for 5G – Francesca Guerriero
The case study will develop mathematical models to handle the optimization problems arising in the design and management of virtual network embedding.
Case Study 3: Queuing Systems – Alain Jean-Marie
The case study will develop different situations facing a device access a communication channel.
Case Study 4: Markov decision Process – Emmanuel Hyon
Concepts of Markov decision Process will be illustrated during the case study which will develop a generic problem that appears in queueing systems.
